And we're off! Thanks Egypt Forum!
We leave tomorrow for Egypt! I am SO excited, and it still hasn't quite sunk in yet. But I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone on the Egypt forum for all of the great information and advice you have given. For more than 5 years, this website has been the primary source of my trip planning, and never once has it let me down. This is my first trip outside of Europe in more than 15 years, and I am excited and grateful! Happy Holidays to all of you!

abby97-I hope you have a wonderful trip. Yes you are right about this site. I can't remember how many years I have gleaned information-gotten guides and restaurant reccomondations from here.
We are going to Egypt/Jordan next year. So far I have our plane tickets-a week in Heragada planned and a guide to assist us. I can't wait.
Please let us know any information you can pass on when you get back. Thanks Chris

She is here. I've been in contact with her tonight already, but her luggage isn't here yet.
Bummer. Everyone say a Christmas prayer for her and me that her suitcase makes it here tonight!
I'll meet her in the morning - in about 11 hours from now.

As the Queen of Misdirected Luggage (8 incidents) I will say a prayer to the Luggage Gods. After so many times of having lost luggage I no longer expect my bag to arrive when I do. If my bag does arrive on time it is always a happy surprise.
Tell her to ask the airline for some type of compensation. I usually score a gift certificate, bonus air miles or some other fabulous prize for lost luggage. The longer it's missing, the more you get.

LOL - still no luggage! But it's okay, because we're in Egypt!
We met Debbie on Christmas morning (Hi Debbie!) and were able to deliver almost everything to her, since we had carried some things in our carry-on.
Surprisingly enough, we really aren't missing our luggage. We LOVE Cairo and are having an awesome time! Our guide, Ahmed, has been taking really great care of us and took us to an Egyptian clothing store. We were able to buy what we need (hopefully Delta will pay) and have a fun cultural experience at the same time. I will write a detailed report when we get back, but so far, we are having the time of our lives and think Egypt and Ahmed are just wonderful.

We're back! We had the most amazing trip, and everything was really just beyond our highest expectations. We just loved Egypt -- the people, the sights, the food . . . everything! We didn't want to come home. We picked up our luggage from the airport just before leaving for Aswan and managed to keep it with us the rest of the trip (and the trip home!). We'll be writing a detailed trip report soon. It really was the trip of a lifetime!
