Abu Simbel, overnight?

I am planning a trip to Egypt later this year. I have looked at various different packages, some include an overnight stay in Abu Simbel and other just visit the sight in the morning by bus or plane from Aswan.

Is it worth staying overnight at Abu Simbel, I get the impression that a few hours at the sight is enough and there really isn't anything else to see besides the temple.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

There isn't a lot to do in Abu Simbel, but one of the main reasons people do stay overnight is to go to the Sound & Light show, which is really pretty good.

But, if your time is limited, a day trip is just fine.

I have to agree with Grcxx3.

But of the Light and Sound shows at the Pyramids, at Karnak Temple and at Abu Simble....

The Abu Simble is the best.

Is it worth staying overnight for ...Hmmmmm!!

It depends on what interests you, I suppose. We did the day trip last January - and as we drove through the town on the way to the site we said "darn, we wished we were staying here" - not for the S&L - we just thought the whole place felt neat. It would be interesting to be there after everyone has left.

we stayed overnight since we wanted to see the sound and light and didn't want to deal with rushing back. Part of our group stayed at the Seti - pretty grounds, nice rooms, bad food - the other part stayed at the Nefertari, not great at all.

The kids liked the swim in the pool at the Seti - it was just warm enough in December.
