A Strange Kind of Love...
I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time (despite the dull light) to witness a pair of Egyptian Geese mating.
It might seem a bit rough, but it seems to work for them...

In 5th grade I was under the same impression about birds. My friend told me that she had watched chickens on her grandparents' farm. She told me the rooster pecked the hen on top of her head a couple of times and she could lay eggs. Obviously, a fautly biology lesson.
It is a privilege to be able to witness these rare moments of nature and to capture them so well in photos is even better.

The geese were certainly successful in their efforts...on July 11th, they brought no fewer than TWELVE tiny goslings to the river...you can see them here:
