I've read many of your terrific tips on the forum and I think I'm just getting more confused about the best plans for us.

We have a week scheduled at White Point Resort in Queens, NS for late June. I originally thought we might leave a day early (because we are scheduled to catch a ferry in Cape Cod MA USA on the same day we check out, but now I think I'm going to try to reschedule my other ferry reservation for the following day. It's obvious that a week on NS is barely enough.

Just found out today that the ferry from NS to Portland ME is no longer running.

We will drive up from Tennessee, taking an overnight stop or two along the way. We would like to spend at least two or three nights on PEI before moving on to our reserved resort week. We've never been to this part of Canada.

We have a handicapped child, so hiking and similar activities are not an option unless it's on a wheel chair accessible trail. We enjoy scenic drives, old buildings, farmers markets, flea markets, family restaurants, and will definitely check out the farm country on PEI.

Your suggestions for a plan for this trip will be much appreciated.

You are headed to the right place. We stayed at the White Point Resort last fall. Feeding the bunnies is great fun, and they provide little bags of food for this.

I hope you have read the reviews on Trip Advisor about White Point Beach Lodge. I have stayed there several times, and depending on the accommodation,it can be shabby. They do have a children's program, swimming pool, and wheelchair accessibility. The resort could certainly do with some updating. About three miles down the road, there are the smaller Quarterdeck Beachside Villas which I prefer; however, I don't think it is suitable for wheelchairs as units are two story.

Hi, Swilshire, Nova Scotia is so beautiful. I am curious as to why you have decided to spend your entire week in just one small part of NS. With a week there is so much that you cld see. Have you intentionally left Cape Breton out of your plans?

Thanks for the wonderful links above. I'm getting very excited about the trip.

OceanBreeze1, we are staying an entire week at the resort because we are using a timeshare unit which comes in a week interval. We also prefer to stay in one place for a week (at least) rather than moving from place to place.

Hopefully this won't be our last trip to Eastern Canada.

Swilshire, June is a wonderful time to visit the Maritimes. Lupines line the roads - depending upon the season from Maine up to PEI.

While on PEI you might enjoy visiting the fishing piers and chatting with the lobstermen. North Lake Harbour and Neufrage Harbour at the eastern end of the island are scenic and I believe the docks are wheel chair accessible.

Also, in Charlottetown the waterfront might be of interest. The wharf has plank walkways and several restaurants are there.

We enjoy having a fish sandwich, etc at the "takeouts" that are at some fishing docks. Suggest you check the local tourist office to learn whether the Orwell farm is open when you are there, your child might enjoy this "old time" farm and possible entertainment.

Chatting with the lobstermen is exactly the kind of thing we enjoy. Love fish.

We live on a farm (though not so "old time"), so enjoy checking out others, but probably wouldn't spend a lot of time on one.

Should have mentioned that my husband is a musician, so we always enjoy finding music stores and good pawn shops. Not unusual for us to bring home an instrument of some sort.

With your interest in music -- as you enter PEI stop at the visitors centre to learn if there are any ceilidhs (pronounced KAY-lee) while you are there. These are "locals" entertaining each other - fiddlers, singing, dancing, etc - much fun. They're held in church halls, Legion halls, etc plus some commercial sites. Rollo Bay has a series of music events. Montague, Dundas and other venues have weekly ceilidhs in season. There are also frequent musical events in Charlottetown. "Anne, the musical" is a treat - it's in Charlottetown.
