Amsterdam/Brussels or Barcelona/Madrid

Hello All,

I will be traveling at the end of Feb 2016. I have in all 4 days in which I want to cover either Amsterdam/Brussels or Barcelona/Madrid. I know in Spain the weather will be good at that time around but I want to understand if when we compare the places which one is better for generic toursim...Any help will be appreciated..

Thanks in advance...

IMO, 4 days would be woefully inadequate for EITHER Barcelona and Madrid, let along the tow of them.

You MIGHT be able to smash Amsterdam and Brussels into that time.

Sorry: EITHER Barcelona OR Madrid, let along the 2 of them.

No weather guarantees - Madrid is on a high plateau and has a real winter - with snow possible.

And 4 days (how much actual time on the ground?) is not enough for either pair.

For only four days, I'd choose Amsterdam and Brussels. Of course you can do that, you could even do the other, just wouldn't have as much time there, obviously. I just think Amsterdam and Brussels are not as interesting, nor did I want to spend as much time there, but that's a personal reaction. Others will like them better than the Spanish cities. With the AVE now between Barcelona and MAdrid, the travel time is about the same for those two pairs (about 3 hours).

I'm not sure about generic tourism as it does depend on your interests so hard to say what you are looking for. As I said, I prefer Spain myself. I'd only spend it in one city, also (like Barcelona or Madrid, not the others), but I know a lot of people want to see different places if you haven't been there. Really, two days sightseeing in each city will be enjoyable.

Just another echo of the above. For four days choose just one city and not Brussels. And yes Madrid can get quite cold in February.

I haven't been to Brussels but I've been to Amsterdam and in my opinion it's exactly that city you should choose for your trip. I think Spain is better at Summer..or early Autumn.. Amsterdam is perfect at Winter time. Mostly because it's North land.. beutiful views at the beach which is near to Amster, about 30 mins on train from Central train Station. And in Netherlands you can try crazy things you've never did before, like "blind" restaurant or Party boat! The last one is pretty awesome! We tried it in November this year, lots of beer, music and fun, it takes about two hours, but the driver was sober don't worry lol. If you're interested we did a reservation online at Vivaster, here is the link on this tour http://vivaster.com/tour/ultimate-party-boat-experience . But hotels are quite expensive over there so you better book them previously and I'd choose hostels (you can always cook for yourself and don't waste money on restaurants). Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Good luck!

These questions make me think of choosing between fish or meat.
Or white or red wine.

Only you can choose and the choice may vary with time.

I would do Barcelona

Barcelona because it is a lovely and lively city.

But frankly Bruxelles can be miserable in February. Not only the cold but dampness rain wind and gray sky.
Same for Amsterdam. Madrid would probably be dry but cold.
