Tokyo Hotel Near Train Station

My wife and I will arrive in Tokyo on April 1 and plan to stay overnight and then travel by train to Hiroshima the following day. Could anyone recommend a hotel near the train station that would be suitable. If possible how to get from Narita Airport to the hotel as well. Thanks.

There are lots of train stations in Tokyo. Which station do you want to be close to? And you'll have to tell us what makes a hotel suitable to you.

To get to the hotel, you might want to take the train or take the limo-bus which will take you right to your hotel (as long as you choose one on the routes).

Do you have a guidebook? Or looked at Japan-guide.com ? You have a lot of research to do to get ready to ask this question.

The easiest plan is to stay at Shinagawa. Take the Narita Express from Narita Airport to Shinagagwa station (2nd stop after you leave the airport). At Shinagawa, there are several hotels within a block or two of the station; the one that's best for you depends on your budget.

In the morning, take the train from Shinagawa station directly to Hiroshima. (If you are using a JR Rail Pass, you'll have to change trains once; if not using the pass, you can travel to Hiroshima without changing trains).

If you're only staying overnight, it's much easier to use Shinagawa than Tokyo.

If you do not plan to sight-see in Tokyo on your arrival night, then Shinagawa Station will be easier as a transit stop to spend a night before continuing on trains the next day. Shinagawa station is one stop after Tokyo Station on Narita Express train. Shinagawa station is easier to navigate than the huge Tokyo Station. At Shinagawa station, Tokaido Shinkansen (bound for Kyoto, Osaka etc) is the only Shinkansen line available; and all Tokaido Shinkansen stop at Shinagawa.

For hotels near Shinagawa train station, there is a Shinagawa Prince hotel, and a Toyoko Inn Shinagawa-eki Takanawa-guchi. (They are next door to each other, and are a 2-min walk from the Takanawa-guchi exit of the Shinagawa station.) Be warned that the double room in this particular Toyoko Inn is very small like a cruise ship's ocean-view cabin.

DonTopaz - Sorry, I was typing and did not see that you had already recommended Shinagawa.

To the OP, make it "Takanawa Exit" of the train station. -guchi means at the mouth of.

I just posted on your "train trip" thread to tell you that you can't make it to Hiroshima on the 31st unless you don't use a JR Pass. As Don mentioned, Shinagawa would be the place to stay that night.

If you are in a hurry, then you could get to Nagoya that night. There is a Marriott Associa on top of Nagoya station. There are a couple of early morning Hikari trains (can use a JR Pass) that go all the way to Hiroshima. Depart at 6:30-ish Get to Hiroshima as early as 9:05.

Or go to Kyoto or, maybe better, to Shin Osaka. I think there is a JR hotel, a Granvia, at Shin-Osaka station. Leave Shin-Osaka at 6:03 and get to Hiroshima at 7:52
