Sugar Hill Inn

Fodor's Review:

Hands down the nicest place in Franconia for a romantic retreat is the Sugar Hill Inn. The lawn's old carriage and the wraparound porch's wicker chairs put you in a nostalgic mood before you even enter this converted 1789 farmhouse. Antique-filled guest quarters are in the main house or one of three cottages. Many rooms and suites have hand-stenciled walls and views of the Franconia Mountains; some have fireplaces. Bette Davis visited friends in this house—the room with the best vistas is named after her. Pros: romantic, classic B&B; fine dinners. Cons: expensive.
