Fiona Young-Brown
Originally from the Kent coast of England, Fiona made her way via rural Japan and Iowa to Lexington, Kentucky, where she has lived for more than 20 years. Her desire to travel was fueled from an early age by seeing France across the Channel from her home and by relatives who lived overseas. Immediately after leaving school, she flew to Germany where she spent three months working in the mountains along the Austrian border. During undergraduate studies, she spent a year in Iowa and would later return there to pursue a graduate degree. First though, she moved to rural Japan for three years. In 2001, she moved to Lexington, where she pursued a university teaching career, becoming a full-time writer six years later. To date, she has written 17 books, including "Wicked Lexington" and "A Culinary History of Kentucky." Her travel articles have appeared in numerous outlets, including BBC Earth, Atlas Obscura, This England, France, and Kentucky Monthly. Fiona also writes about private aviation, food, and women’s health, and is the owner of BritishFoodandTravel.com. In addition to traveling extensively in the UK, the US, and Japan, Fiona has spent extended periods of time in Germany, New Zealand, and South Africa.
