Occupying a hefty slice of Hotel Zetta's ground floor, Cavalier is a British pub with a Nor Cal sensibility. The celebratory space, the brainchild of restaurateur Anna Weinberg and chef Jennifer Puccio, has high ceilings, red walls, stuffed animal heads, large arched windows, and clusters of paintings imparting a decidedly British temperament. The gin-based cocktails pair well with starters such as deviled crab, rock shrimp, and duck-egg confit, and hearty mains include
the Sunday chicken—bathed in a bacon-mustard jus—and rib-eye steak atop a bed of horseradish mashed potatoes. The service here is top-notch.
