Big caloric portions and long lines are hallmarks of this comfort food destination. During prime weekend brunch hours, hungry regulars from near and far wait an hour or more for an indulgent meal in the crowded (and sometimes noisy) dining room decorated with farm machinery photos. Typical of the Southern-accented breakfast fare is Andy's Sage Fried Chicken Benedict served with eggs, bacon mashed potatoes, and a biscuit. At lunch and dinner customers favor overflowing chicken pot pies and the cedar planked bourbon rib eye. Bring an appetite and a friend; sharing plates is a necessity here.

I am shocked that fodor's would star this restaurant. Indeed the platters are huge and so is the amount of food. But I would gladly give half of it back in exchange for more flavor, better execution of the dish, and less money put out. If you want a great breakfast go to The Cottage in La Jolla!
