Side Trips from Montréal: Places to Explore

Notre-Dame-des-Bois

Notre-Dame-des-Bois is a sleepy little one-street village just north of the Maine border. It sits in the shadow of one of the region's tallest and steepest mountains—Mont Mégantic, which soars 576 meters (1,890 feet) above the surrounding plain, with a height of 3,601 feet above sea level. It also has some of the clearest night skies in Québec, a quality that has endeared it to stargazers, both professional and amateur.
