Seifried Estate, one of Nelson's first wineries, is a 20-minute drive from Nelson's main center, on the way to Motueka. Hermann Seifried was one of Nelson's pioneer winemakers and now the large family-run winery produces fresh, zippy sauvignon blanc, a creamy chardonnay, a decidedly tasty riesling, and a lush pinot noir. Beside the cellar door is Petite Fleur, an independently run restaurant where former international five star hotel chef, Horst Wellmeyer, now happily
