Fodor's Review

Tucked in a tiny back street of Murchison, this well-priced rural retreat is within easy walking distance of the mighty Buller River. The guest rooms are comfortably countrified, with strong colors and lots of wood. Breakfast (inclusive) is a big affair with freshly squeezed juices and bread made by Shirley each morning while Merve cooks up bacon and eggs on the barbecue. Dinners can be pre-arranged. They can put you in touch with a good local guide for trout fishing, and they'll definitely encourage you to join their own tour, The Natural Flames Experience, which crosses a deer farm and leads through pristine beech forest to a natural gas flame, on which Merve will cook you up some pancakes.
