Hotel d'Urville Review

Every room is unique in this boutique hotel in the well-preserved, art deco style Old Public Trust Building. You could choose the Raja Room, with its Eastern-inspired decorations and carved Javanese daybed; the romantic Angel Room; or the sensory trip of the Colours Room. One room is based on the exploits of Dumont d'Urville, who made voyages to the Pacific and the Antarctic in the 1820s and '30s. The excellent restaurant ($$$$) serves everything from a cup of coffee to tasty breakfasts and delightful dinners, based on local produce. Try the lamb, perhaps matched with an offering from Clayridge or Cloudy Bay vineyards.
