Hotel d'Urville Review

Every room is unique in this boutique hotel in the well-preserved, art deco style Old Public Trust Building. You could choose the Raja Room, with its Eastern-inspired decorations and carved Javanese daybed; the romantic Angel Room; or the sensory trip of the Colours Room. One room is based on the exploits of Dumont d'Urville, who made voyages to the Pacific and the Antarctic in the 1820s and '30s. The excellent Brasserie Restaurant ($$$) is led by classic French-trained chef Maree Connolly. Pork rillettes, perhaps? Or try Entrecote con Pommes Frites et Sauce Bearnaise (steak with fries and Bearnaise sauce) matched with an offering from Astrolabe or Cloudy Bay vineyards.
