My Son Sanctuary

My Son Sanctuary Review

Dating back to the 4th century, this archaeological site 70 km (43 miles) south of Danang once served as the religious capital of the Champa kingdom. Its 70 temples were severely damaged during U.S. air raids, leaving this UNESCO World Heritage Site far from the impressive scale found at Cambodia's Angkor Wat; in fact, most of the detailed sculptures and artwork have been moved to the Cham Museum in central Danang. Nevertheless, it's worth a visit to get a glimpse of the headless statues, moss-covered structures, and the crumbling towers still there.
