Phan Thiet is a lively fishing village, divided by the Phan Thiet River, where the colorful feline-eyed fishing fleet is moored. The town has some interesting sights and some excellent people-watching opportunities. It's a great place to see local life in action. Until 1692, the Cham controlled the area, as evidenced by the Cham towers in the area. Many locals are ethnically Cham, descendants of these former rulers.
