This state-owned chain for foreigners started in major Chinese cities as a sign of friendship when China first opened to the outside world. The prices, however, are not very friendly. Still, it's a good, quick source of Chinese silk clothes, snuff bottles, carpets, calligraphy, jade, porcelain, and other traditional items that are certified as authentic. There's no bargaining, but there are occasional sales.
