If it's race night, grab an early, stabilizing meal around the corner at the Tasty Congee and Noodle Wonton Shop, a Cantonese restaurant that looks like something from the 1930s. Then, dressed comfortably but chicly, be at the track by 8 for turf 'n' tippling. Take some throat lozenges if you plan to bet—you'll want to scream as loudly as the thousands around you.
