What is best way to get to Boston from New York?

We have a weekend coming up with a wedding in Boston on Saturday and Chicago on Sunday, and are planning to attend both. My husband and I just have to fly to Boston and back to Chicago, but my daughter will be coming from Brooklyn Friday afternoon to Boston. Is there a recommended way that would be fast? She only knows the Chinatown bus. Thanks for help and suggestions!

Flying is definitely the way. Naturally, it's more expensive than a Chinatown bus, but you there a helluva lot faster!

There's an Amtrak from Penn Station that's pretty convenient.

Avoid the Fung Wah bus. Yes, it's cheap, but the safety record is a little scary.

Flying and train are often the same amount of time when you consider transport to/from airport and added time need for security. Either work fine. The Acela train might be fastest but will def. be priciest.

Forgot to mention there's a fancy bus from NY Hilton to Backbay Hilton.

Oooh...forgot about the limoliner. I've taken it and it's really nice. That would be my first choice over the train.

Thanks, this is just the type of information/opinions I was hoping for! I don't think flying would be better, as she will have to fly with us from Boston to Chicago early AM Sunday, then BACK to EWR (they had the latest departing flight I could find) Sunday evening. Need I say that these are two REALLY CLOSE friends?

marilynl, check out a company called Bonaza Bus or Peter Pan bus. I think the website is www.peterpanbus.com. This company has service from South Station in Boston to the Port Autority in NYC. Hope this helps.

All methods from NYC to Boston take the same amount of time - air, train, bus or driving - four hours. (Actual air time is about 35 minutes, but getting to/fro airports and dealing with security lines make it take essentially the same.)

We aslways drive - since we have a car and live on the upper west side - so close to city exit.

For her I would suggest Amtrak - a lot more comfy then flying - and less susceptible to weather delays.

I commute through South Station in Boston where the train from NY arrives. Just leave a extra time since the train is often late.

Thank you all, I think we'll go with the train.
