Wash. DC Hotel near American University

Hi,
My husband and I will be traveling to Washington DC next month to visit his niece who is in her first year at American University.
Last time we were there we stayed in the Dupont Circle area and loved it but I'm not sure how convenient that is to American University.
We expect/hope to be visiting with her at least part of the time.
Any special recommendations? I'd like to keep it under $150.00
If I bid on Priceline, what are the best areas to look?
Thanks!

Not really any hotels right near AU. Dupont circle is about 3 miles from AU. There is a Days Inn on Connecticut Ave which is close to 2 miles from AU. The Savoy Suites on Wisconsin Ave in Upper Georgetown is maybe 1.5 miles away. U cancheck their websites for prices. Sorry dont know what the Priceline areas for DC are.

The Embassy Suites in Chevy Chase would also be considered close to AU.

I would stay at Dupont Circle, Woodley Park, Friendship Heights....they are all on the red line as is Teneleytown/AU though you do have to walk a few blocs from the AU stop to the acutual university. Woodley Park has the Marriot Wardman and the Omni Shoreham. Chevy Chase has the Embassy Suites and a Ritz Carlton. Dupont Circle has many/many. Either way you are only a 5-7 minute ride at most on the red line.
