Vacation in San Diego-August

We will be staying in San Diego the 4-10 of August. We've never been. We'd like to stay somewhere with a kitchenette. We have 3 kids 10-17. Any Suggestions?

TahitiTams may know of something all I can think of is a condo or rental home either of those you can find on vrbo. I've seen some cottages in La Jolla and the Ocean Beach possibly.

Try the Residence Inn San Diego Downtown on Pacific Hwy. It's a neat hotel, resembling an art deco apartment building. You will have a kitchenette, usually consisting of a 2 burner cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, and full size fridge. You usually will have your choice of a studio room, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom suites. Most rooms have a sofa sleeper as well.
Your family will also recieve a complimentary full breakfast.

We stayed in the Moonlight Beach Condo

Encinitas is considered "north county". We prefer to stay there. Moonlight Beach is very fun, with surf board and other rentals available.

We loved this condo. It would be plenty big for five people.

Check out the Beach Cottages in Pacific Beach, although they are likely to be booked up fo August.

Hi anijohn..
August is our busiest month but things are still out there..
I don't know what your budget is but maybe a condo/house/cottage might work for you..
With 3 kids 10-17 years of age, the beach is a great place to swim/boogie board and play at the beach.
La Jolla Village Lodge in the heart of LJ is cheap and you could get 2 rooms..its basic but can't beat the location and they have microwave and a rooftop grill..4 blocks from the beach..
Hotel La Jolla or Hotel La Jolla Shores Hotel might work for you too.
Others have given you great suggestions as well..
I would stick to the beach areas of SD like LJ/Del Mar/Mission Beach/Coronado..
Happy to help anyway I can..

we use Barbara McLain Properties to manage our property (we don't rent it in summer) They manage lots of properties in San Diego counnty

August isn't as bad as it used to be because Arizona school kids now go back to school in early August (!!!!). Nevertheless, it is getting late to be renting.

Hi Anijohn,

I am staying at the Residence Inn DownTown tomorrow for a few nights with my family - 2 bedrooms/kitchen. I will let you know what I think. It was a VERY reasonable rate - of course that could feel that way because I am booking a room for 4 in Rome... not fun. LOL
Anyway - also try the Shell Beach Inn - it has been years since I stayed there but it was a campy little place on the La Jolla Cove - also the La Jolla Cove suites - some rooms had kitchens..
