I've been to San Francisco before and have done the city attractions, Muir Woods, Yosemite, Big Sur. I'll be visiting again later in April. What other suggestions are there? Help!

Well, since Muir Woods, Big Sur and Yosemite are not SF attractions, maybe you should just see SF itself!!

Sorry, couldn't help myself. I assume you mean you have been to the Wharf, Alcatraz, and have ridden a cable car--those seem to be the things most people consider to be SF attractions.

I suggest that you pull up some of Stu Dudley's posts for a great list of things that we natives love about our city.

Try:
- hiking in the Marin Headlands & Tennessee Valley
- Half Moon Bay and Pescadero
- Santa Cruz
- Berkeley
- Pt Reyes National Seashore (easily worth a full day)
- take a surfing lesson on Ocean Beach (or Cowells Beach in Santa Cruz)
- hike Mt Diablo in the East Bay
- Monterey
- San Juan Bautista
- Healdsburg, Sonoma, Guerneville and the wine country

Are you sure you've done all the city attractions? The Cable Car Museum? The Maritime Museum and its ships? Have you wandered all the neighborhoods: Hayes Valley, Noe Valley, the Castro, Clement St in the Richmond? Been to a Giants game at PacBell Park?

How about the deYoung museum in Golden Gate Park? Fort Point at the base of the bridge is pretty interesting.

The Northern California coast, above San Francisco, from Point Reyes to Mendocino is especially beautiful. Some of our favorites are the little town of Elk, just above Gualala--charming little town with incredibly awesome ocean views, the Point Reyes lighthouse, Mendocino, and the Avenue of the Giants (home the huge redwood trees).

Fabulous choices for the area. Also go south to Carmel, east to the Berkeley/Oakland hills.

Oh, do we go to AT&T park to see a game? I always go for the view! =D>

We had been to San Francisco several times before our trip last year and are always looking for something different to do. Two things that we really enjoyed were the Scenic 49 Mile Drive and the Napa Valley Wine Train. On the scenic drive, you follow a bunch of signs along the side of the road that takes you on a drive throughout the city. It gives you a chnce to see a lot of areas and neighborhoods that you might otherwise miss. And to me, the great charm of San Francisco is in it's neighborhoods and physical beauty. The Wine Train (if you take the tour out of SF) offers you a bustrip up to Napa by way of Oakland and returning accross the Golden Gate Bridge. It hab a wine tasting stop going to Napa and a visit to a vineyard on the way back. The train ride itself includes a very nice lunch on a three hour train ride through the vineyards. There is also a wine tasting car on the train. We thought it made a very enjoyable day.

We went to a Giants game once where we didn't even go to our seats - just wandered around the park the whole game - LOL. And we had a great time

next Thursday...I'll be the one in the
red fleece, LOL !
(and they've won 3 of 7-just so outstandingly better-HA-HA !)

I've heard it's $20 to park at AT&T now. Yikes!

Some of the lots that were available last year are no longer open. However, it is so easy to get to the Park by streetcar, not being able to drive is not a huge deal.

We are treking via the Larkspur Ferry,
and our own feet, weather willing.
Otherwise we'll hop on MUNI to Mission Bay~
We often travel this way to SF-a car
in The City is just a hassle and
Ferry/Bart/Feet/MUNI is more fun !

You can never ride a cable car too many times. Museums and shows? Bart out to Walnut Creek? Various in-city neighborhoods?

Beach Blanket Babylon is great SF stuff. Marin Headlands is great for the views back towards the City and Rodeo Beach and Point Bonita. Berkeley is great for the food (check out chowhound.com) and for walking around campus and through Arts & Crafts style neighborhoods. Earth Day is April 21st and who knows what you'll find around the Bay if you are here then. Also, UC Berkeley has its annual open house on April 21st. Pick a couple of your favorite subject areas and see what cool stuff is available to play with. Check on line for the scedule. The campus is a 3 minute walk from the downtown Berkeley BART station.

Have you been to the new De Young in SF? or the MOMA or MOAD (Museum of the African Diaspora)? I like the temporary home of the California Academy of Sciences near Yerba Buena Gardens.
