Will be area in April and want to visit the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum and the Saguaro National Park before heading to Tombstone. Plan to spend one night and only need a fairly nice place to sleep and perhaps sit by a pool in afternoon. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Was thinking of something around 100 or les. Has anyone stayed at the Ramada Foothills Inn and Suites or Comfort Suite Sabino Canyon? Also saw the Palo Verde Inn and Suite......any help would be wonderful. This is the last room to book and I am stumped as to a choice...perhaps brain dead. Thanks for your help

We made much the same trip just a few weeks ago. In Tucson we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Tucson Mall - that was because we used points for a free night. It was nice, not sure of the price.
We wanted to go through the Desert Museum, but the weather had turned bad, cold and windy with rain storms. Make sure you bring bottled water, a hat, etc. Most of it is outside. Enjoy!
As to Tombstone, it's worth a couple of hours but no more. Quite a disappointment. It could be an interesting historic site, but it is more like a circus midway ("See me get shot at 3:30! Buy your tickets now!") If you're going that far, go on down to Bisbee. Tour the mine, visit the shops, and by all means eat at Cafe Roka. You'll need reservations, and don't hesitate to sit at the bar, if that is offered as a reservation. The bartender is a fascinating individual.

Last January we stayed at the Windmill Inn. We liked the quiet location. Our "suite" had a bedroom, and the rate includes a basic breakfast. As I recall there is a very nice pool area. Our room was clean and fresh, but it was NOT stylish. They should have hired an interior decorator, but they didn't.
We had a delicious dinner at Vivace--an Italian restaurant a few steps away. A P.F. Chang's and other restaurants are in a nearby shopping area.
We moved to this place from the sterile Downtown Marriott, and liked the change.

Hi Sludick - you do get around! While you were in Tucson we were freezing in Corpus Christi. I don't know if I told you we have a place in Green Valley and spend our winters here. We spent the month of January in CC and I guess the weather was terrible all across the south. Pretty soon its time to head back to wine country.
nmoylibr - Sludick is right Tombstone is not worth spending any time at all. Bisbee is certainly an interesting spot though.

I went to Tucson last year for baseball Spring training at the end of March and stayed at the Sheraton Tucson Hotel and Suites. I got a great deal on Priceline for only $60 a night!! Nice pool and they have a great continental breakfast in a building right next to the pool. Beautiful view of the Mountains and Tucson was VERY easy to get around. Address at the hotel is 5151 East Grant Road Tucson, Arizona 85712.
