Travel to and on Hawaii
I am planning my honeymoon for July/August 2005. I am using FF points to fly from DC to Hawaii (Maui). I was wondering if it would be better if I had us flying to Honolulu instead so we can island hop and end up on Honolulu for the trip home. We plan on going to Maui and then Kauai. I'm not sure I can use the FF points to have us land in Maui but depart from Kauai. Or should I have us coming and going out of Maui and then do a round trip flight on one of the local island hopping airlines. Does anyone have any advise on what to do?
Thanks!
Thanks!

The first thing you should do is contact the airline immediately and see if they have space for you using your FF miles, as it's really rather late to be making arrangements for July/August. This is usually done 11 months out. The information about what's available will make the choice for you, if they have any space at all.

I spoke to the airline this morning and went online. There are tons of seats available on flights at that time. I was a few thousand miles short of miles for the second ticket so I purchased the additional miles today. They should post to my account in 3-5 business days and then I can book them both.

We are planning on going for 10 days. I will call the airline and see if they can arrange for us to arrive in Maui and then leave for home from Kauai. It's not possible to book multiple cities on the online frequent flier redemption center. I just hate having to sit on hold for yet another question
Thanks.
Thanks.

hbaum73, you may want to recheck with your airline about using FF miles for your trip. While they may have a ton of seats for sale, they only have a few free seats for FF miles on each flight. In feb. i used my FF miles for a trip to hawaii for x-mas/new year, it was the first day my return date was avalible to book, and had to move the date by one day because there was a problem with the FF seats being booked. July and aug. are busy months good luck!

I agree with rechecking with the airline about trading in FF miles for tickets.
We are using FF miles for this July and we booked last August!!
Good Luck..........I hope it works out like you planned.

Paying extra to buy miles without confirming availability? I'm sorry, that's a pretty dumb thing to do. And if you want advice from this board, please give it more than 34 minutes (the OP started the thread at 11:10, by 11:44 he/she already purchased the miles... )
