Transportation to and from Chart House Weehawken

I have a meal booked at the Chart House this Friday evening, after looking at my options I was going to take a water taxi , rather than a taxi as I have read they can charge any amount to get you back to Manhattan . I am staying at the Pearl hotel on 49th St, so I was aiming to walk to the pier location.

Any thoughts would be appreciated ,

There is no such thing as a "water taxi" in NYC. It's a ferry service called "New York Water Taxi", but I don't think it runs to Weekawken. The New York Waterway ferry runs by a schedule and costs about $10 each way. If you're going alone, this is a good way of getting there. I think the Chart House is walkable from the ferry, but it's a very very long walk to the ferry in Manhattan, so be prepared.

However, a private minivan will take you to and from the Port Authority for $3. That's a more central location and will be considerably cheaper and faster for you. There are also regularly scheduled buses.

Thanks Doug, I have looked on the NY waters website and they appear to run from Midtown /W.39 St to Lincoln Harbour and it seems cheaper than going via a taxi for me and my better half.
I will take your advise on private minivan, thanks again .

The ferry is definitely cheaper than a taxi, even for 2 people.

Most of the minivans stop across the street from the Port Authority on 42nd Street (on the north side of the street). But I'd like someone who commutes regularly to NJ to confirm that. But this is where I see them when I'm down in that area. They don't stop inside the Port Authority, and some people find this confusing and confounding. If you fall into that camp, then the ferry is definitely more comfortable.

Actually, it's a ferry service called "NY Waterway" and its runs to a few different Weehawken locations including Lincoln Harbor and Port Imperial.

NY Waterway runs free shuttle buses in midtown Manhattan to take ferry riders to the Manhattan terminal on the Hudson River. Here's a link to the routes and schedules:

Here's another link to the shuttle bus routes in Manhattan:

Looks like the 50th Street route runs west on 49th Street and east on 50th Street--perfect for the OP.

Appreciate your comments and the links in helping me with this question, especially the free shuttle buses info.

Thank you.
