Ferry from Weehawken to New York?
We're going to be staying at the Sheraton in Weehawken, NJ. We will be taking the ferry over to NYC. We are going to Columbia University. Does anyone know which ferry we take? Also, after the ferry lands, how should we continue our trip to Columbia - subway or bus?

The Sheraton is in a part of Weehawken called Lincoln Harbor. The good news is that it has it own ferry. Just take that to the NY Waterway terminal on W. 38th in NYC. The ferry from Lincoln Harbor leaves just a few feet from the hotel.
Once in the city, your best bet would be to take the 42nd Street shuttle bus subway to Times Square and then hop on the 1-2-3 subway. (2 & 3 trains are express.) Alternatively, there are usually cabs at the NY Waterway terminal.

If you decide to take the subway from 42nd Street, you can either take the 1 or 9 (local uptown) to 116th Street. If you take the 2 or 3 express, you'll need to change at 96th Street to the local - or get out at 96th and walk if it's a nice day.

You have good information about getting to NYC and to Columbia. Make sure you find out how to get back to the 38th street Ferry terminal back to your hotel. Pick up a "Lincoln Harbor" ferry schedual, and find out from the bus driver where will be the pick-up spot! Or you can take a taxi from 42 nd street to the 38th street terminal.

Hi I am planning a 3 day trip to NY. We are thinking of driving from Washington and are staying in Manhattan. One possibility I am looking at is parking in secure parking near Paulus Hook terminal and taking ferry across to Lower Manhattan (our hotel is in Chinatown). Thought it would be part of the "sightseeing" and lovely way to enter New York. Any advice or suggestions very much appreciated.
