Transportation from Newark to NYC

Just wondering what is the fastest way to get from Newark airport into Manhattan. Arrive in Newark at 12PM, about how long will it take for me to get into Manhatan?

Taxi could take 25 minutes or could take an hour-- depends on traffic.
For one person without a lot of luggage the "Airtrain" (combination of the airport monorail + NJ Transit trains) is fast, (travel time total about 20-25 minutes, but you might have to wait a few minutes for both the tram and the train (both run frequently, but if you happen to just miss one or the other...)
Taxi: Newark- NYC rates depend on exact location--figure about $50 one way

Airtrain combo using NJ Transit (you can actually get an Amtrak train too, but it costs double and runs much less frequently) from Newark into Penn Station NY (Watch out there's a Penn Station in NJ , too) is $11.55 one way.

I've done both, depending on number of travleres and suitcases.

Marc is right on. The taxi wil run about $50 into midtown (don't forget to add tolls to the basic fare, plus tip) and transit time depends on traffic. 25 minutes would be in ideal traffic, more realistsic is 40 minutes or so unless traffic is bad, then look at an hour or more.
The Airtain makes one stop at Newark Penn Station the continues into New York Penn Station. If you have only carry on bags it is great. Transit time is 19 minutes (add on a few minutes at each end to get into/out of the station).

Just a word on time with the Airtrain. The waiting time at the Newark airport train station can range anywhere from a few minutes to as much as 40 minutes, depending upon when you get there. Trains are less frequent on the weekends. Just something to keep in mind if time is a consideration.
