Transportation from EWR
After looking at the various commuter websites I'm a bit stumped....I'll be staying arriving at EWR, and staying at the Hilton Newark Penn Station. If I take the AirTrain to Newark Airport PATH train to Newark Penn Station do I have to pay both the PATH fare ($8.50 pp) AND the AirTrain offsite fare ($5.50 pp)? If so, do I NEED to take the AirTrain....I don't want to schlep bags for half a mile, but .......
if I do need to use both forms of transport, would it be cheaper to just take a cab (there are 2 of us)?
Thanks!

There is no Newark Airport path station. Air Train connects to New Jersey transit (and Amtrak) but not Path. The $8.50 charge includes both Air Train and New Jersey transit to Newark Penn Station -- there is not an extra offsite fare. There also is a very cheap local bus that connects the airport to Newark Penn Station.

Just came back from Newark. The taxi will cost about $ 20 and take 10-15 minutes depending on time of day (longer during rush hours). For the two of you I would take the cab less hassle and schlepping.
