Hi! My friend and I are planning a trip to Atlantic city. We are flying into Philadelphia and are told we can get transportation easily to AC. The question is what the options are and how long does it usually take? Thanks in advance!

Each option takes two to three hours.
Once in Center City Philadelphia, you can

1) ride the NJTransit bus direct between Philly and AC

2) ride PATCO to Lindenwold

and then NJTransit rail to AC

3) ride the numerous, daily casino buses between the two cities -- do a search for
Philadephia "Atlantic City" bus
and you'll find several choices for day trips to specific casinos. Note that many will give you a value of chips almost equal to your bus fare, so this option can be almost without cost.

Take a SEPTA (regional) train from PHL to Phila's 30th street station. With decent connections that should take about 30 minutes. From Phila (30th Street), take AMTRAK to ACY. That leg will take just over 1HR, 30 MINS. and cost $8 each way.

1)The easiest & quickest way to get to AC from the airport is to just hire a car service. Atlantic City is only 1 hour from Philly by car. There's no need to jump through hoops, take 3 hours, or rent a car to a city where you have to pay for parking and where a rental car is more of a hindrance than a help. Atlantic City is a walking city, not a driving around city. Once your are in AC, there are plenty of cheap cabs and little buses called Jitneys that are $2.

2) While these other suggestions are accurate, they don't convey the extreme inconvenience that using the train or bus when trying to get to AC entails. And trying to line up your flight time then taking a $30-$50 cab ride to find one of those "free" casino buses, will be an act of futility.
I did take the train once.
We had to wait 20 mins for the Septa train. Ride time: 15 mins
We then had to lug our bags from one side of the train station to the other to wait 1 hour for the NJ Transit train. Ride time: 95 mins.
Then, after walking all the way through the station with my luggage, we took a cab from the train station to Harrah's casino. Ride time: about 10 mins.
My plane got in at 5pm, we didn't check in to the casino till after 8:30pm. After the two of us paid for the 2 trains and the cab, we really didn't save that much money, but we did manage to waste over two hours of our time and get sore arms from carrying the luggage.

if you take septa and NJ transit when you get to AC you can take Jitty(Shuttle) to the hotel I think it is only couple dollars instead of taking a taxi. It all depends how you want to get there. I would look up Septa and NJ transit schedule and see how long it looks like you would have to wait for NJ Transit. If your in hurry to get to AC then take a taxi or something or if you want to take your time and don't mind taking two trains and the schedule looks good then take the trains.

I would consider renting a car - it is a pretty easy drive from Philly to Atlantic City and I believe that parking should be free if you are staying/gambling at the hotel (check this though, as I haven't been there in a few years, so my recollection about free parking may be wrong).
