Things to do in Hawaii this fall?
Looking for suggestions on things to see and do in Hawaii in the fall with a focus on culture and outdoor adventure. Undecided on which islands to visit and hoping to make a decision soon.

Depends on what part of "fall" you mean? Aloha Festivals starts in September and runs for about 6 weeks.

It is a statewide celebration, but I believe most of the activities happen on Oahu.

golfnutn8, so what do you mean by "fall?" September and October are still summer in Hawaii ... There's always tons to do there, doesn't change that much with the seasons, really, except for the whale watching in the winter, IMHO.

Your name would indicate an interest in golf, which can be pretty special on ALL the main islands.
And if you want real outdoor "adventure":
- on Oahu, try Ko'olau, or Turtle Bay Resort (Palmer course).
- on Maui, try the Plantation Course at Kapalua, Makena (North Course), Wailea Gold.
- on Kauai, try the Kauai "Grand Slam", of Princeville (Prince Course), Kauai Lagoons (Kiele Course), and Poipu Bay.
HINT - if going to any of the courses mentioned first above, on each island, be prepared to lose lots of balls!
But its worth it.... these courses are all pretty spectacular!

Sept Oct the waves start to hit the North shore, but unless there is a storm it isn't very likely you'll see any big waves there. Novemeber is when they start to bet big on a more regular basis,
More likely to find waves (much more modest ones) on the south shore, Ala Moana, Waikiki, etc.
(Not that I surf.. I got this from my surfer husband)
