Snowboard Trip Vermont
We need some recommendations for a snowboard trip for my son. We are thinking about visiting Vermont. My husband and I don't ski or snowboard, so I'm not sure where we should go. I think we would probably like to rent a condo or small house near a resort. We would also like to take our small dog, so we need a place that is pet friendly. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Sorry don't know the specifics but snowboarding in Vermont can be great. My friend's teenage son is a devote to the sport (they're based near Brattleboro but I'm not sure where they go for sport).

I would suggest the Manchester area. There is plenty to do for the non-skier there and Bromley Mountain is a nice, smaller area that would be perfect for your son to learn snowboarding (please be sure to sign him up for lessons!).
Another thought is Stowe - another great town for the non-skier and the ski/board school at Stowe is topnotch.

YMN - I've been to many of the VT resorts... if you give me a few more details, I can probably throw out a few suggestions.
1) How old is he? Does he need lessons?
2) What kind of things do you want to do while he boards?
3) Where do you live and how are you getting to VT?
4) How many days are you staying and what days of the week?
Later!

I am 51 and tried snowboarding for the first time last year. Just got a taste but liked it. When I got home to FL I bought a used LAND trainer from tierneyrides.com. I love it and practice on my street. I can't wait to try again this year with better balance and control!

I think that Stowe would be a good choice. They have great instructors and the town of Stowe is very pretty. It's also not too far from Burlington (an hour or so) which is a great town.
I'm not sure about where you could stay with your dog, but have you ever checked out TakeYourPet.com? They have very extensive listings of pet-friendly accommodations all over the US. You do have to pay for a membership ($15-20 or so for the year) but I've found it invaluable in travelling with my dogs.

I also agree that Stowe is a wonderful town with lots of great restaurants. We have been there many times for winter getaways.
My teenage son learned to snowboard at Stowe many years ago. Their full day programs were awesome and the instructors were terrific!
