Winter sporting area (NH, ME or VT) that's not a mob-scene?

Feb. school break coming up. Just looked into The Balsams (NH) but the reviews on TripAdvisor were spotty indeed. Looking for a nice resort/hotel/inn (no B&B) that's at least marginally luxurious. Would be nice if it had skiing, skating etc on the grounds, but if it's all nearby, that's fine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Check out the Wildflower Inn in Lyndonville, Vermont. Burke Mountain Ski Area is just 5 minutes away and gets nowhere near the crowds as other Vermont resorts.

Thanks so much. Not familiar with either of these spots so I'll look into them directly.
