Anyone been to Stowe recently?

We're headed up there next week, from the 20th to the 23rd. The snow reports look pretty dismal at this point, with only half a dozen trails open. Anyone live up there who has a rosier view of things, or who has seen an optimistic forecast for the next week?

doesn't look good. according to weather.com, the temps are slated to be high this week, and lowering a little next week. doesn't look like much help for snowmaking. We are supposed to head up around then, too, but are thinking of cancelling... I posted a query on ideas for daytrips in the event we do go up.

I'm headed up to VT as well. For day trips, Burlington is about 20 mins from Stowe and in the other direction on I89, there is Montpelier. My husband is closer to Montpelier and agreed that temps are up this year. Sorry for the forecast.

Stop in the Visitor's Office when you arrive (right in the center of town). There is a huge literature rack for seeing and doing in all directions. Vermont is a very small state with all sorts of appealing destinations and activities within a reasonable drive.

The Vermont Public Radio weatherman said there is the possibility of a snowstorm that weekend, but of course it's too soon to actually make that call.

Yeah, I think we've decided to cancel for now and try to reschedule for either January 5-7 or 19-21, when hopefully it will have been cold enough for snowmaking and a little natural snowfall. Oh well!
