San Antonio and Austin Texas

My husband and I would like to take a trip to texas soon. we usually go to Florida this time of year but we would like to try someplace else that is warm,we like music and have time to go the end of March or anytime in April. Is there a riverwalk festival ? Is this a good time to visit either of these cities?

This is a great time to visit either one. Temps are in the 50 - high 70's and low humidity.

The Riverwalk is it's own festival, and there is always something goin on.

If you are going from S.A. to Austin ( or the other way around ) depending on how much time you have, Gruene is a nice little place to spend a day. It's about halfway.

San Antonio is always fun. Here's a link to some festivals for you. Texas is probably at its best in late March and on into April. Beautiful weather and wildflowers starting to bloom.

The Oasis is a fun place to go in Austin - usually live music, and always a beautiful view of the lake.

Agree with Rich - Gruene is a cute charming little place. Check out the Grist Mill and the old dance hall for live music.

The Gruene Apple is a cute place to stay.

The Capital 10K race in Austin in on March 27th. Hotels, particularly close to downtown and the lake may be harder to find and more expensive.

Gruene is a great place to stop between San Antonio and Austin, but I wouldn't give it a whole day, more like 2-3 hours (I got some great earring there from a craft jewelry store)

As Seamus points out, April is when Fiesta takes place in San Antonio. There are events where drinking is the primary activity, such as NIOSA, music venues, art fairs and dance exhibitions:

Gruene Hall is a dance hall in Gruene Tx famous for live music:

Gruene is on the river and there are places to sit on a deck and enjoy the view:

At that time, you are likely to see the bluebonnets:

What kind of music? Can't beat Austin for Music. What else do you like to do?

Agree that the Cap 10K may fill up hotels that weekend, but if you can come another time, late March and all of April are beautiful here.
