renting a truck (ONE WAY) to transport newly purchased furniture from North Carolina
We live in the DC area and are considering driving down (in our car) to North Carolilna to shop for new furniture. Has anyone rented a truck for one way transportation for newly purchased items? Any suggestions?

A friend of mine did a buying trip about a year ago - and had the same idea. They found that delivery charges weren't that much more than renting a truck - certainly not enough to drive a truck all the way to New York.
DC is closer - but do check on delivery charges versus rental costs.

If you are going to the major furniture dealers in and around High Point, delivery is usually free or very inexpensive. Plus, while there are some good deals on stuff that is in the showrooms, you can pretty much order exactly what you want at close to "wholesale" prices.
(We moved down to NC from the DC area and sold much of our furniture before moving down. It was a brilliant idea.)
