Pointe Hilton - Tapatio Cliffs - Arizona Grand Resort

We are looking to stay 3 or 4 days in Phoenix and are considering staying at one of these three resorts with our 5 year old daughter

Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort
Pointe Hilton Squaw peak Resort
Arizona Grand Resort

Would all three of these be suitable for travel with a young child?
Also, are these clean well kept resorts? Thanks

Susan1 -
I would definitely recommend the Squaw Peak Resort for travel with children. We stayed their about 4 years ago with our two little kids (2yr old & baby) for a family reunion. There is a lazy river, plenty of shade for sitting, zero entry pool, restaurants on-site. We left the resort only twice for special dinners out and a couple mornings for a hike - otherwise, we could have just relaxed the entire time right there.

My husband and I stayed at Tapatio Cliffs last year without our children. I thought it was lovely, but would not recommend it with children because of the hills. It would have been quite a hike up to our suite from the pool and restaurant with kids in tow. There are probably rooms closer to the pool, etc. that would not require as much walking. But overall, I felt that the Squaw Peak resort was better suited for families.

Both of these resorts were clean and well kept. Be sure to ask about renovation work because there was some construction noise (if I remember correctly!)

We haven't been to the Grand Resort so I can't compare this one.

Good luck.

I agree about Squaw Peak Resort for the kids..also, Princess Fairmont is a lovely property and kids love the water park/slide..
Arizona Grand Resort is right off a freeway entrance..never stayed but have seen it on Expedia and its pricey for a 3-4 star resort..

We are on the fence as well between the Pointe Hilton Squaw peak Resort and Arizona Grand Resort. We have a 5 year old and 6 month baby. Did you ever go?

SO disappointed in the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Resort.

The rooms (at least in the main building) were downright dumpy. Broken light fixtures, windowless bathroom with no working lamps or fan, the cord in the phone in the bedroom would not stay connected (so you couldn't call the desk without having to hold it in place), toothpaste "spray" on the bathroom walls, we had to kill a cockroach in the bathroom within 5 minutes of getting into our room, etc. OH - and don't even ATTEMPT to try to pull out the sleeper-sofa. They had to send the handyman down, who wrenched on it for about 10 minutes to get it to pull out. (I had read elsewhere that this was a problem for other guests, but thought, "How hard could it be? It's a sleeper sofa!" Well, I was wrong).

The most disturbing - as a Mom of two small children, is the huge 6"-8" gap at the bottom of the railings which line walkways and the balconies. A small child (ours is 18-months) could easily, EASILY slip through and fall. We were given a 4th floor room, but had to move to a ground floor room because it was the only one that didn't have this rail.

The upside was the pool at the Waterfall area. There was ample room for us to spread out and relax. The gradual slope that the little ones can walk into the water themselves, was helpful so that they could splash without having to be held to get in and out of the water.

Unfortunately, the photos for the Hilton site are FAR above and beyond what you actually get for the rooms. Fooled us. We actually ended up canceling the last two days of our stay and booked at another hotel. I was surprised that Hilton would allow one of their properties to have such low standards.

Hope this helps someone else with making a decision!
