Philadelphia Old City...but don't stay at the Thomas Bond House

I had a good trip to Philadelphia Old City....but it would have been a great trip had I not had the misfortune of crossing paths with a Bed and Breakfast there, the Thomas Bond House. These guys charged two fraudulent charges to my credit card for many hundreds of dollars, refused to remove them, and refused to cooperate in my bank trying to investigate the charges. Go to Philly Old City....BUT STAY AWAY FROM THE THOMAS BOND HOUSE.

Your credit card company wouldn't investigate the fraudelent charges to your credit card? What credit card company was that, I am curious as the few times I have had fraudelent charges my credit card companies have immediately taken care of the problem and credited my account.

May I also say this is an interesting thread from one who has never posted on Fodor's before. You wouldn't by chance be in competition with the Thomas Bond House by any chance, would you?

jackohio: this B&B is owned by the Federal Government. Good luck trying to get your money back!

I did take a picture of the exterior earlier this year but didn't think it was that special a place. The location is certainly ideal, however I stayed at the Marriott which was just a ten minute walk away or even faster by Phlash bus.

Unless one really wants to fall into a 18th-19th century mood along with the rest of historical Philadelphia, it's much nicer to stay in a more modern hotel.

Even if the B&B is owned by the Federal Government if there was a rip off with the charges on the OP's credit card I can't imagine the credit card co. not giving the proper service so I am still wondering what credit card company the OP used. And no response from the OP, so this thread still sounds fishy to me.

If you feel this strongly, Loveitaly, then you should write to both Tripadvisor and Yahoo, because his negative reviews of this B&B are plastered there as well. He may have written other similar reviews on other websites too. I'm just not that eager to keep investigating this poster.

I remember that, earlier this year when looking for a hotel in Philadelphia, there were some negative comments about the Thomas Bond house. Can't remember what nor where, but enough to make me stop looking at it as a possible place to stay.

Negative reviews are just as helpful as positive ones. Savvy travelers know to balance the comments and come to a decision on their own.

Posting his negative comments on so many travel sites indicates that the OP is either a competitor of TB house or that he really was an unhappy guest.

I don't feel that strongly, just find the thread interesting and a bit amusing. And personally I haven't bothered to investigate this new poster, just making a few comments here.

You now have no opinion? How can you go on multiple web sites accusing the management of posting fraudulent charges on your credit card, take nearly three months to resolve the " and now have NO opinion?

Were your accusations/ suspicions true or false?

Are you posting under court order??

For the third year, I got sucked into attending the Boston GTG. I always think, who in their right mind would fly all the way from Hawaii to Boston to meet up with a bunch of kidney theives

Not quite sure how my mental capacity (or poor spelling) relate to your not having any opinion on a topic that was terribly important to you back in November.

But, I'm in the mood for conspiracies and links to otherworldly connections after an evening watching LOST. , so I'll bite...You lost your kidney at the B&B? Or did you sell it, and not get the correct credit on your credit card? Or was your right mind removed and only your left brain (the side that is NOT involved with judgement and reasoning) remains?
