Park City or the Canyons

We are planning a trip to Park City and can't decide whether The Canyons or Park City is the place to stay. The Canyons had a very nice townhome for thalf the price of the Marriott Summit Watch. We are bringing a 17 year old and a 2 yearl old. Not sure what you would recommend.

The Canyons is about a 20 minute drive from the town of Park City, so I wouldn't stay there--unless price is a significant factor.

I vote for Park City. We were there a year or two, and it is fun for everyone, even if you don't ski...Lots of artists, fun shops, places to walk, etc...quite the little town now..

I've stayed at Summit Watch and it's a terrific condo right in the historic district of PC. Lots of small, quaint shops, restaurants and a wonderful renovated museum. The town lift is right out your door so it's basically ski-on/ski-off. Marriott's Mountainside is where you should stay for the ski school in PC for the 2 year old. If the 2 year old isn't skiing then stay at SW, the 17 year old would love the town, walking distance to everything. It has a nice pool and hot tubs(under an old train trellis)and kids activity center. We've skied the Canyons and we love the mountain although we've never stayed there. There is free transportation to/from each of the ski areas, I highly recommend it. The Canyons is more remote since it's not in a town, with less for "entertainment" vs. PC. Be sure to visit the Olympic Park. You'll have a great ski vacation regardless of where you end up!

I'd stay in Park City. More dining options, shops, places to stroll, etc. Canyons is a canyon full of condos and not much else. There's a reason for the price difference.
