North Shore Lodging
I am looking for a place to stay on the North Shore for perhaps just 1 night on a weekend in August and am looking for suggestions. Would like something inexpensive (less than $150) that has a nice outdoor pool and/or is close enough to the beach to walk OR close enough to drive and not sit in traffic AND is close enough to "poke around" in either Newburyport, Rockport or Gloucester. (hope that isn't too much to ask!)
Thanks

Just to let you know how the board works - there is no "Mass. forum", or any other state for that matter. All threads are lumped together under "United States".
Clicking on Massachusetts does let people search for some threads about MA, so you'll likely get some response. But a more detailed title is alwqays better . . . .

The Vista in Gloucester is an easy walk to Good Harbor, a large beach. They also have a pool. It has been many years since I stayed there. However, they almost always have their no vacancy sign up, even during the week, so I assume its still nice enough. It is in your price range.

Forgot to say that it probably doesn't meet your requirements for "poking around". I think you can walk to the grocery store but not much more. However, I'm pretty sure the bus stop is right in front of Good Harbor, so you could get into the downtown that way.

I think Rockport is an adorable town to walk around for a few hours. However, I was just there a few weeks ago and didn't think the beaches that were within walking distance of the town were that nice. The two I saw were very small and covered in pebbles. I guess it would depend on what you wanted in a beach, though.
