New Orleans Jazz Brunch
I'm dismayed because I can't get in to Commander's Palace for a Sunday Jazz Brunch. Any suggestions for a place with great food and even greater music? Thanks. Sue

We haven't been to NO since the hurricane, so it's difficult to know what the current status of restaurants is, but we've enjoyed the Palace Cafe for years. Commander's Palace is our favorite, but the Palace Cafe is wonderful, too. The same family....

We too are jazz lovers, but we did very much enjoy the Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues. My husband loves gospel, I'm not that enthusiastic, but I did think the singers and musicians were exceptional. The brunch selection included both breakfast and lunch items, and was one of the most extensive and best we've ever attended.

We like the Palace Cafe too. Check out www.nomenu.com. Restaurants are listed by neighborhood, rated and you're given the link directly to the restaurant. Plus you'll get up-to-date restaurant scoop.
NOTE: As of yesterday, 810 restaurants are now open!!! Pre-Katrina, there were 809. Hurray!

Sue,
Check out Ralph's on the Park.

We had a wonderful brunch there last summer. There were six of us, and everything we ordered was delicious.

So glad so many folks are going to New Orleans. We just can't abandon an institution like this; the government may not be much help but as individuals I think our involvement (visiting, eating, listening to music, etc) can be one of the catalyst to recovery.
