Need Paso Robles advice...wineries & activities
We're headed to Paso Robles next week and are looking for wineries with excellent wines/unique tasting rooms. So far we've got Bonny Doon (eclectic) and Justin (excellent wines/tuscan ambiance) on the list.
Any tips on hot springs, horseback riding or other off-the-beaten path must-do's?

never ambled to PR, but they have some dandy wineries there. Firestone comes to mind (remember Andrew from "The Bachelor?") Wild Horse, J Lohr Here's one that sounds fun:

We have been to the Paso region several times. The Harvest Tour last October was great fun! We have many favorite places in the area, Justin is really nice, their Justification is excellent. Dover Canyon, Tablas Creek, Orchid Hill, Garretson, Wild Coyote (house of reds), Summerwood, Robert Hall, Bianchi, Tobin James, Martin & Weyrich, Meridian are all very nice places to taste. We also like the Merlot at Summerwood. Zenaida Cellars is also a nice place to wine taste.
There is the Sycamore Springs Resort in San Luis Obispo for the hot springs. Have fun! ***kim***

I thought Wild Coyote was unique, great reds, beautiful adobe tasting room and cottages (B&B?). The wine glasses that we received that were included in tasting fee "were" my favorite! I say "were" because my husband just broke the last one yesterday. Time to return for more!

For fun, eclectic tasting rooms, I'd recommend Clautiere and Tobin James, both on the east side of town. For great wine, try Tablas Creek, Linne Calodo. If you go to Justin, the other "far out" wineries like Norman and Dover Canyon are nice and it's a really pretty drive. I enjoy tasing at Cass as well. Have you checked out www.pasowine.com ? It has an excellent map of all the wineries and tells a little about each one.
Not sure how many days you will have to taste, but as the wineries are fairly spread out, it can be a good idea to pick a geographical area and hit a few in that area. Have fun!
