Can anyone please help with the pro's and con's of staying at the above two Marriott properties? From what I can determine, the mountainside is ski in/ski out and the summit watch is a short walk across the street to the lift. Is one property in better condition than the other? Is one closer to restaurants?
Thanks for your help!

I have not been to mountainside but have stayed at summit watch several times. there is a downtown lift across the street from summit watch. the downside to summitwatch is that it doesn't have a restuarant, bar, etc since the rooms all have kitchenettes. however, the sumittwatch is very nice - indoor/outdoor pool, several hottubs, a good gym and lots of activities for children.
Summit Watch doesn't have a restaurant (I don't consider that a "downside" since I almost never eat in hotel restaurants), but it's on Main Street, which means it is walking distance to everything in town, including all the restaurants the town has to offer. Mountainside is, needless to say, at the mountain, so probably a 10-15 minute walk or a quick drive to Main Street. Given the choice, I'd stay at Summit Watch because I like the location, especially if there's anyone in your group who doesn't ski.
mikeway4,
The Mountainside is close to the restaurants that are in the base area, La Cantina, for one. Good, typical Mexican and there are a couple others.
You can take the free PC Shuttle to town if you don't want to walk. It's a few blocks to Main Street, downhill on the way and all uphill on the way back.
Both are very nice properties. Persoanlly, I would choose the Mountainside just for skiing convenience.
we were there in 2003 & 2004 (headed back out in 3 weeks! hooray! We love Mountainside for the pool and outdoor hot tubs, also - Summit Watch definitely is cool if you're stepping out to shop or to a restaurant, but is quite closed in by the various other buildings. We either move our car to get to the evening spots (good parking behind the shops - hopefully still there!) and the shuttle is also awfully easy.
After reading your posts Mountainside will be our choice as we prefer to have the skiing convenience. It sounds easy enough to hop on the shuttle if we want to go into town for any reason. Thank you everyone for your help.
It IS easy, and it's also a good healthy walk if you want to. The house we rented was on Empire just around the corner from the ski area, and we walked into town often (about 10-15 minutes to the middle of Main Street).
Yes, it's a very nice walk to Main Street and you can always take the shuttle back if you are too tired/full/drunk.
Which of the 2 Marriots is better in the summer.....?... Difficult to ascertain from all the replies
They're very close to each other - 10 or 15 minute walk. Mountainside is at the ski area, whereas Summitwatch is in town. Otherwise, not much difference (I'd personally choose "in town" because then you're near restaurants etc for evening activities, but that doesn't make one better than the other because it's summer).
