Park City report (summer)

A little info for anyone planning a Park City summertime vacation.

PC is an extremely easy drive from Salt Lake. 20 minutes or so. The Mariott was conveniently located, but not terribly special. Big room, refrigerator, decent bedding. Would have preferred to stay in one of the historic district inns, but many did not have AC and/or TV. Actually, AC would not have been needed most days if you had a way to get cross ventilation. The temp never topped 80 and hit low 50s at night. (late June)

Mtn biking was spectacular. Cole Sports on Park Avenune rented some decent quality, well maintained bikes. Any Mountain bikers out there who want details should let me know.

Seasons Day Spa was very nice, I got probably the best facial ever.

Restaurants are plentiful. All were good/acceptable. Better than where I live, but not what I had hoped for. The best was Grappa, good Italian food in a beautiful setting. Come dressed warm enough to eat on one of the many terraces. Chimayo was pretty good, as was Zoom and Off Main Cafe (for breakfast). Avoid Happy Sumo sushi.

You cannot spit in PC without hitting a Starbucks. (or some other coffee shop) There was one in the hotel, grocery store, and bike shop. That's one coffee-loving town.

All the people in PC were noticeably friendly...and I'm from the south, known for friendly

Litespeed,

Glad you had a good time in my hometown. Agree the Marriott is nothing special, it's a chain hotel after all.

Grappa is the best. Going there Sunday night! Yum....

Aren't there two Marriots? One downtown and one someplace else in the area? Which one did you stay at?

Did you play golf? I'm curious about the area courses -- quality, ease of getting on, cost.

There are actually 3 Marriott properties in Park City. One is a high rise time share condo/hotel right at the base of Park City Mtn Resort. Another is at the bottom of Historic Main Street. Both great locations and nice new properties.

The other is the Marriott in Prospector Square, an older, renovated property in a very densely developed commercial/condo area. Is close to several good restaurants, but a long walk to Historic Main Street. Could would want to use the free shuttle buses to get there or to the resorts.

Have fun!
