Ludington lodging

Any recomendations where to stay in Ludington: resort or good motel under $120 per night in a good proximity to the Michigan lake with a good beach?
We will be spending a few days in MI coming via a ferry from Manitiwoc. We want to explore Michigan lake shore, Sleeping bear Dunes, maybe Petoskey area and need a a base.

Thanks

Dan

Ludington is probably a good two hours from Sleeping Bear and 3.5 from Petoskey. I'll admit that I'm very biased, but Traverse City might be a better bet, it's more in the middle. There's a lot more to see and do. You can also get a 20% off coupon for the ferry and if you stay 4 nights and book through the CVB phone line, you get a $25.00 Speedway gas card from the CVB at the end of your stay. http://mytraversecity.com/

The ferry comes in Ludingtin at 7 pm. So we probably need to stay overnight nearby.
What to do in Trverse City? We are not particularly intersred in shopping or amusement parks.
We will have about 5 days in MI and then we go to Chicago. I need an advice how to spend these days in a combunation of beach sunbathing/swiming and sight seeing. Forgot to mention: we are from minneapolis and have two teenegares

Thanks

What to do in TC? Lets see:
All sorts of water sports including Parasailing and kayaking
Fishing
Golf, both regular & the fancy mini kind
Tall ship cruise
Hot air balloon ride
Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore
Wineries
Casinos
Interlochen Center for the Arts
The Traverse City Film Festival
Museums, both historical and art
Great galleries and crafters
Lighthouses
Fantastic hiking and biking
Fabulous restaurants
Great shopping downtown
So as you can see, there's an awful lot to do near TC.

We're two hours from Ludington and 1.5 to Petoskey. Another half an hour and you'd be at Mackinaw.

Hi Rapunsel,
Thanks for the response. We will spend a night in Ludington (will be very tired after a day trip from Minneapolis-Manitowoc-ferry to ludington). Next day we will explore the shore from ludington to the Leland and come in Travese City by night. How is the plan. Can you suggest any nice and not very expensive place to stay in TC or outside TC ?

Thanks.

Dan

As for reservations, it depends what your idea of inexpensive is! When will you be in TC? On weekends, you do need to book in advance.

You can make reservations at 1-800-TRAVERS (1-800-872-8377)
