Lizard Lounge - Portland's Best Kept Secret!

Today we went down to the ByWays Cafe (NOT a secret anymore since it was featured on the travel channel) and we had a 25 minute wait so we wandered around the neighborhood.

We passed Bay 13 and noticed the "Lizard Lounge" sign board down Irving. We thought it was a bar that we hadn't heard of so we walked down to check it out.

Much to our surprise, it is a men's and women's clothing store with nice little seating areas where you can sit and enjoy complimentary Stump Town coffee. Apparently it opened about 7 months ago but we had not heard of it. They have GREAT clothes but the best of all is their fleece! It is the softest most buttery fleece I have ever felt! It is all 50% off now, too! The sales people are also very friendly.

Unfortunately, we had to get going to ByWays so we weren't able to shop long.

I am heading there tomorrow...

P.S. I am NOT affiliated with this store in any way.

Well, I posted this in the Oregon forum but I guess that isn't obvious? Hmmm...

There is no Oregon forum. Read the list of forums; US, Europe, Canada, etc., etc. All US posts go to the same place. Yes, if you click on a particular state when you post, anyone who searches that state will see your post. But no one looking at the US forum can tell from your post title what state you're talking about. Nor can they tell from reading your post unless they happen to be familiar with the area. Which I'm not.

That's one of the things I really dislike about this forum. Argh! My apologies for upsetting you CAPH52.

Hopefully most of the people in Oregon recognized the name of the cafe I referred to and also that Stump Town coffee is from Portland, OR.

"My apologies for upsetting you CAPH52."

HUH? Does anyone see any signs of CAPH appearing the least bit upset? Seems to me it was just a pleasant explanation of how things work and a nice attempt to be helpful!

A simple "thank you for helping me understand how the forum works" would be a nice touch -- not that it's necessary. We all have to learn sometime and how can we do that if no one points out how it works?

I thought CAPH2's reply came off as a bit annoyed too, but that's the price we pay for typing responses instead of speaking them.

By the way Patrick, your post was completely unnecessary and didn't help the OP at all.

As opposed to yours? Too funny!

I actually thought it was worth pointing out when someone is being helpful and not being rude. I guess not everyone agrees with that. Some would prefer new posters NOT to learn how it works here. Why they want to withold that information, I simply can't imagine -- they want to keep the new posters not knowing what they are doing, perhaps?

Thanks for coming to my defense, Patrick. I didn't mean to sound rude. Just wanted to point out that you get more "bang for your buck" if readers know what area you're talking about.

Obviously, I agree with you about filling people in, Patrick. But I should know better than to jump in. It's been mentioned in numerous threads that it comes across as snarky. And I have to admit that I was a little thin-skinned about eurotraveler's response to me. I could've been gentler in my response. For that, I apologize.

Yes, Caph. Sometimes I think people need or want a clear "no offense intended" or "I mean this in the most helpful way", but sometimes even when people say that, someone will take it as sarcasm instead of sincerity.

Meanwhile I've been laughing my head off for the past hour. I cant' get over that I posted a post in defense of someone and also offered a bit of friendly advice, but someone saw fit to post that MY post served no purpose. I guess the difference between my post and his was that mine offered advice, while his merely put someone down. I guess there's a lot more value here to posts that are critical of other posters instead of those that are helpful or defensive of other posters. Simply TOOOOO funny.

Caph and ET- Most of us know you are both long time posters, and since both of you apologized for any slights or misunderstanding, we can get back to the reason for the original post.

Thanks for the info on Lizard lounge. I look forward to visiting it next time I'm in town!

Heh, and I'll chime in now and admit my post was a tad hypocritical
