Been a while since we spent the night in Kearney on a fast cross-country drive but.... First it is a small town with a state universty, but I am sure you know that. My memory serves me that there is a chain motel [can't remember which one -- memorable it wasn't!] on the edge of town just off the interstate and a decent chinese restaurant nearby [surprisingly decent actually]. Kearny is famous for being the place where those missile silos were buried in the ground for our national protection... [A missle used to stand in a plaza someplace in town...]There may be a motel that meets your specifications closer to the campus, but my recollection is that Kearney is small. The best source of information for a small town like this that I have found are the AAA guidebooks.

Randy,
Kearney is booming--I would guess it's one of the fastest growing towns in the state. We stay there often for soccer tournaments, Destination Imagination competition--you name it--it seems to be in Kearney. You can find a dozen good chain hotels--the hotels that have an indoor pool plus a lounge would include the Holiday Inn and the Ramada Inn. I know the Holiday's pool has waterslides. If you don't care about the lounge part, Kearney has a nice Hampton Inn, Country Inn and Suites and Hol. Inn Express. You wouldn't go wrong with any of them.
