Is it allowed to own a car in NC with only a IDP?
Hi
I hv recently moved into US and staying in NC state. I still don't hv a US driving license.
Pls tell me if am I allowed to own and drive a car with my Indian Driving license and International Driving Permit.

Most states (NC included) require you to get a valid DL from your state of residence w/in 30 days (or some similar number) of taking residence. You'll need one to get a license plate for your car as well. I am well aware of what elsiemoos' link says, however, if you get pulled, you will likely encounter much grief & may be subject to additional fines, etc.

You also need to look into the question of insurance. How much the state requires and what the rates are based on.
Typically if you change state of residence and don;t change your insurance information you will find that you aren;t covered (since rates are based at least partly on specific location).
