In Sedona/Out of Sedona places to stay
As I have posted before we are going to be in the Sedona area in late July for about a week and have ask advice as where to stay. I am getting rather confused as to whether to stay Red Rock views such as Hyatt Pinion or go to the River such as Junipine. I have heard both positive and negative things about both. It all depends on what you like to do on a vacation and everyone has their own opinion. With so many places to stay and so many different opinions, we are in a tizzy. We will be there for about a week as a home base. We will be doing day trips to surrounding areas and will need a place to rest/relax that is quiet and maybe a pool to take a dip in. It doesn't have to be either place, we just need some input as to where others have had a most enjoyable expeience and would return again.

Hi Froggy, I hear you. I have talked w/you before on Junipine. Personally, I like being a bit removed from the Sedona hustle and bustle and up in the canyon a bit. On all my trips to that area, I have only stayed at Junipine and Enchantment (although I have visited people staying at other hotels). BUT that being said, in late July I wouldn't personally brave the heat at Junipine since there is no AC, and no pool. I know you are from southern CA, but I think the heat in that area of AZ is possibly even more intense (albeit dry heat) than what you get in southern CA. If it was me, I would stay somewhere w/AC and a pool in late July (and I spent 30 yrs in Houston, so I know heat too). Hyatt Pinon is right smack in the middle of the Y in Sedona so right in the hustle and bustle, although from the recent reviews on here, it sounds like it seems a little more remote than it is when you are inside the complex.
Not to add to your problem, but there are other resorts that are a bit more removed from the hustle and the Y- there is a Raddison (Poco Diablo?) I think, and a Hilton resort on the road going into Sedona and maybe one or two others. They are longer-established than the new Hyatt Pinon, so you get a place w/the new kinks out of it. Don't know if you get the space there that you get at Hyatt Pinon though, probably not, and ktichen facilities which I think you said you want. Check previous posts on those. If you don't get the space/kitchen at those, then I guess my vote would be Hyatt Pinon- even though I haven't stayed there the reviews are pretty good so far, and you do get space. If I recall correctly from the posts so far, I think the pool isn't that big though.
Good luck w/your decision.

Have you considered renting a house? Take a look at VRBO Arizona, on google, then click on Sedona. At that time of year you should be able to get a very nice house for what you would pay at the above mentioned hotel. Some have a pool or hot tub. You can find many more vacation home rentals on websites for Foothills Realty and Red Rock Realty. Again, using Google, just type in the realty name and Sedona. I've been using theses and other sites to find a rental for next March.
Good luck!

We stayed at a lovely B&B in Sedona called The Inn at Oak Creek. Though it was on the main road, once we were in our very charming room, we felt far removed from the traffic because of the beautiful view. We even slept with the windows open, which was wonderful (we were there in June and it cooled down nicely at night). The place was very quiet, and the food (breakfast, appetizers, and fresh-baked cookies) was delicious. We would highly recommend it.
