I'm so excited about our trip to NYC!
We are staying at the Westin Essex. We have tickets booked to the Producers. Our family of four (two teenageres 16 and 18 and us 40 somethings) would like to shop, see the sights and do what we need to do (won't be back for awhile).
Is there anyway to get cheap tickets to Mama Mia? We would like too see Conan but missed the date by a couple of weeks. Any suggestion would be helpful.
Thanks
The Canuks

Try some of the discount websites - Playbill.com, boardwaybox.com, theatermania.com to see if they have discounts for Mama Mia - it's easier to get them in advance. (Don;t know when you're coming - the discounts are listed only two months in adavance or so.)
If that doesn;t work try the TKTS booth - either in Times Square or the Seaport on the day you want to see the show (but lines can be really long and you need to pay cash.)
As to what to see/do - there are around a hundred threads with recos here. If you have any special interests let us kow and people will have ideas.
My only strong reco is DO NOT got to Tavern on the Green or any of the theme restaruants - the food is mediocre to awful - as is the service - and the prices are no bargain - esp for TOG (the only advantage of which is a pretty setting).

The only possibility for Mamma Mia discount tickets is that they might be available for MIDWEEK performances (forget weekend discounts) at TKTS, the half-price booth. But, you won't know until the day of the performance, and it's far from a sure thing.

We had most of our play tickets in hand upon arrival. But on the last day we went to the TKTS at Seaport where the line was very short (less than 5 minute wait.) We all decided what we personally wanted to see the most and we bought separate tickets. Then we split up just before showtime and met afterwards for coffee and dessert. Very easy to do as the theaters are mostly within blocks of each other.
We did go to Conan. It was fun but took up waaaaay too much precious time, in my opinion. There is lots of waiting-around-time.
