More Broadway questions...
Thanks for all the Wicked help. Now I'll not lose any sleep over having 'nose-bleed' seats because of all the encouragement. But before I 'leap' into buying more tickets, I'm reversing the procedure this time.
We arrive in NY on a Wednesday (2pm) and leave on that Saturday...not much time. Our Wicked tickets are for Thurday night. Last night I began to wonder what we could do that Wednesday night! It will be cold (February) and I can't see either wandering around aimlessly after dark or sitting in our small midtown hotel room!
I've started looking at perhaps another show for Wednesday night. I read some descriptions and both Jersey Boys and Mama Mia sound very good. Unfortunately, ticket prices and my budget are in no way compatible! However, is either of these shows SO good that I should throw caution to the wind??? I guess that's question #1.
Now I'm looking at Legally Blonde. This IS in my budget so, if you've seen it, were you glad you did? That's question #2. Also, if you're familiar with the Palace Theatre, is Balc C, Row A, 101-102 at least a decent seat option?
Thank you all again! You've all been so helpful in the past and it is appreciated.

Are you familiar with using discount codes to buy tickets?
I use them all the time. They are available at this site:

Both Mama Mia and Legally Blonde are usually at the TKTS booth discounted. For that Wed. night maybe you should just play it by ear and see how you feel. If you're up to the theater, go to the TKTS booth with cash and get some. If you want to plan ahead, use the discount codes (there's bound to be one for Mama Mia before your trip). The front of the balcony is always a good place to see a musical.

Well, I enjoy wandering around NYC "aimlessly," (the best part of visiting the city imho) but if you aren't interested in doing that, I second the suggestion of going to the TKTS booth in the afternoon.
The last time I was in NYC it was in February (very cold!) and we had a LOT of options at the TKTS booth for shows on the same night. We saved a bundle that way. You already have your Wicked tix booked ahead, so if you're on a budget, I think it's worth the gamble to see what the TKTS booth has the day you arrive.

I would highly suggest keeping an eye out for discounts before your trip, so you don't waste valuable hours waiting at the TKTS booth. February is a generally slow time on Broadway (as long as it's not President's Day) so many shows will be discounted... Jersey Boys won't be among them, however!
In addition to BroadwayBox listed above, there is a discount program, Season of Savings, that runs in the fall and winter. The shows aren't listed yet, but keep an eye on SeasonOfSavings.com.

Hi esd,
I have to recommend a dramatic play - August: Osage County - that is now on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre. Discount tix are available with a code from Steppenwolf.org -- the NY Times critic loved this play, and now it's a really hot ticket. I saw it in Chicago twice, and just couldn't get over how great it was. Hope you can catch it!

In Feb, with the COLD weather, I'd suggest heading downtown to the South ST. Seaport to the TKTS booth there. There is rarely a line and since the booth opens at 10am, you can get your tickets and head off to see more of the city from there, or head to Chinatown for Dim Sum, or stay at the Seaport for lunch at one of several good seafood restaurants there.
YOu also might think about some of the other wonderful opportunities here at CArnegie Hall (www.carnegiehall.com) and Lincoln Center (www.lincolncenter.com). We have world class performances going on in the city every day.
New York isn't just Broadway.

I'll repeat the idea that even better than going down to Seaport in the cold weather is to get discount codes a couple weeks before you go and either get your discounted tickets in advance, or go to the actual theatres and get the tickets at discount once you get to New York.

Thanks everyone. All the advice you've given has been well received and sounds 'right on'. If we were arriving earlier in the day I'd have taken the chance on getting tickets there, or even at the theatre. Unfortunately, I chickened out and went ahead and got them through ticketmaster.
There is still Friday night and if we aren't 'Broadwayed-out' we will certainly put all your good ideas to use. Of course Friday is the day that we have a rental car lined up for a Bronx tour. That should be VERY interesting. I see by the map that that what I remember as Bruckner Blvd is an expressway now. I hope I can navigate the area. Perhaps instead of advice, I should be asking for your prayers!!
(And thanks again)
